The mother of Donald Marshall Junior has died. Caroline Marshall-Hobbs died on Christmas Eve at the age of 86. Her son spent 11 years in prison after he was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1971. He died in 2009 from kidney failure following a double lung transplant. Marshall-Hobbs is remembered as a fluent Mi’kmaq speaker with a talent for traditional crafts. She had been in declining health over the past year because of dementia and diabetes. Her funeral mass will take place at 10:30 tomorrow morning at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Sydney.
