District 10 Bye-election Date To Be Set, Tonight

Cape Breton Regional Councillors are expected to set a date for the bye-election in District 10, at their monthly meeting, tonight.   The seat was left vacant after Darren Bruckschwaiger resigned earlier this month to take a job out West.   Municipal Clerk Deborah Campbell is recommending December 6th as the date for the vote.   She’s also proposing that the vote be solely electronic.   Campbell says e-voting was very successful in the 2012 municipal election with 56.4 percent of the voters in District 10 choosing that option.   She adds that two electronic polling stations would be set up for people who don’t have access to either a telephone or the Internet, as well as to troubleshoot for thsoe not familiar with the technology.   She’s also recommending that the company Intelivote which ran the 2012 election, be hired to carry out the bye-election.
