The price of diesel went up by 8.4 cents a litre overnight after the Utility and Review Board invoked its interrupter clause to raise the price early.
Diesel now goes for a minimum of $2.05.7 cents a litre in Cape Breton.
The UARB says the price change was necessary because of significant shifts in the market price of diesel.
The price of gas remains unchanged at a minimum of $1.69.9 on the Island.
