Detour On Highway 4 As Police Investigate Fatal Collision

RCMP say part of Highway 4 in Sydney Forks is closed as they investigate what’s become a fatal two-vehicle crash.

Traffic heading out of Sydney is being detoured through Coxheath to Blackett’s Lake Road by Exit 5a on the 125 Sydney Bypass.

Traffic coming to Sydney is being detoured at Blackett’s Lake to Coxheath Road.

Police say they got called to the intersection of Highway 4 and Blackett’s Lake Road in Sydney Forks, shortly after 4:00 on Monday afternoon.

They say a car and pickup truck collided at the intersection.

Police say the 76 year-old driver of the car was airlifted to Halifax hospital where he died from serious injuries, yesterday morning.

 A 67-year-old man who was a passenger in the car suffered what police describe a non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
