by The Regional Municipality says traffic is being detoured around the intersection of George and Townsend Streets in Sydney, today.
It adds the detour is necessary to allow for water main upgrades.
The closure will affect George Street from Brookland to Falmouth Street and Townsend Street from Bentinck to Douglas Street.
The municipality also says businesses along the affected route will remain open and adds all efforts will be made to provide customer access.
The closure is expected to remain in place for the entire day.
The detour will also affect the Number 8, 11 and 13 transit buses.
