A Richmond Co. man accused of killing his mother is due back in court today for a hearing to determine if he’s fit to stand trial.
Police charged 31-year-old Merlin Demers-Kennedy with second-degree murder in the death of Michelle Demers-Kennedy in January.
The 58-year-old was last seen at her Framboise home in May of last year.
Her body has never been found despite extensive searches.
A fitness hearing was scheduled for her son earlier this month but that was delayed at the request of his lawyer.
Kevin Patriquin says he needed more time to talk to the doctor responsible for his client’s psychiatric assessment.
