Davis Day Commemorations In Glace Bay, This Morning

It’s Davis Day, today.

William Davis Miners’ Memorial Day is named for Bill Davis who was shot dead by company police in Waterford Lake outside New Waterford during a miners’ strike in 1925.

The day recognizes the many lives lost in the province’s coal mines.

This year’s Cape Breton Davis Day events are taking place at the Cape Breton Miners Museum in Glace Bay.

The Regional Municipality says there’s no garbage collection in Glace Bay today because of Davis Day.
