Date Set For Protest At Health Minister Delorey’s Office

A date has been set for a healthcare protest that will see one lane of the Canso Causeway shutdown.

The group Capers 4 Healthcare says it’s rented four buses for the event on Friday, November 16th.

The protest’s final destination is the Antigonish office of Health Minister Randy Delorey.

But on the way, protesters will get off the buses and walk across the Causeway.

They’ll then get back on the buses and continue their journey to Antigonish.

Organizers say the goal is to bring their concerns directly to Delorey after repeated attempts to get him to come to Cape Breton.

The government’s plans to close the hospitals in North Sydney and New Waterford and replace them with community health centres has already led to public meetings in both communities.
