Dartmouth Man Facing 66 Charges In Nova Scotia Youth Centre Investigation

RCMP have charged a Dartmouth man with 66 offences after a multi-year investigation into claims of sexual assaults at the Nova Scotia Youth Centre in Waterville between 1989 and 2015.

75-year-old Donald Douglas Williams was the Youth Centre’s swim instructor between 1988 and 2017.

He’s facing 28 charges of sexual assault, 32 counts of sexual exploitation and 3 counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm as well as single counts of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and assault.

Williams has been released on conditions and is due in Kentville Provincial Court on September 26th.

The Mounties say 450 survivors and witnesses across Canada were interviewed for their investigation, named Operation Headwind, and more than 9,800 documents seized during searches were reviewed.

They say more charges are expected against Williams, and the investigation remains ongoing.
