Curling Announcement, Today

Curling Canada is expected to announce Sydney will host the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, later this morning.

Officials with the organization are holding a news conference at Centre 200 at 11:00.

In May, the Regional Municipality announced it was entering a bid to host the Tournament of Hearts at Centre 200.

Regional Council voted to contribute 150-thousand dollars to the bid process.

The national women’s’ competition features provincial and territorial champions from across the country, as well as the previous year’s winner representing Team Canada.

The municipality made a bid last year to host the 2018 Scotties, but lost out to Penticton, BC.
