by The union representing the majority of long-term care workers in the province says a strike is possible after a breakdown in talks with the government and a failure of conciliation efforts.
CUPE Nova Scotia says it rejected an offer that included a three-year term with a 1.5% increase each year, with an additional 1% on the last day of the contract and an increase to shift and weekend premiums of ten cents an hour each.
The union says no other financial proposals were addressed and there was no opportunity to discuss financial matters beyond the mandate given by government.
A conciliation officer is expected to file a report with the Minister of Labour on July 8th.
