A Glace Bay woman who pleaded guilty to two charges in connection to her boyfriend’s death is due to be sentenced, today.
28 year-old Christina Michelle Croney was originally charged with criminal negligence causing death, and dangerous driving causing death after Matthew Somerton died in April of 2014.
However in court in late May, Croney pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene of accident and not offering assistance to an injured person.
Police say Croney was backing the couple’s truck out of the driveway after the couple had an argument when Somerton opened the driver’s door.
They add as he ran alongside the vehicle he fell and was run over.
Croney left the scene and Somerton was found unresponsive.
He died in Halifax hospital on April 5th of 2014.
