The CBRM has ordered a review of what it’s calling “unresolved expenses” on a municipal credit card.
The municipality made the announcement after an emergency in-camera meeting this morning.
It’s not saying who was using the card.
It does say transactions over the past 14 months identified expenses charged to the card and no supporting documentation was given after requests for verification.
It’s calling the matter an “unresolved financial issue” from the previous administration that has to be resolved before Council can move forward.
Lawyer Robert Sampson has been asked to review the transactions in question and an external audit will be done on the expenses.
The municipality says it won’t be making any further comments at this time to ensure the integrity of the process.
