Couple Homeless After Evanston Fire

A couple in their 60’s is homeless after fire destroyed their home in Evanston, east of Port Hawkesbury, yesterday afternoon.

The Red Cross says the blaze at 14 MacLeod Road was reported at around 1:00.

It adds the couple were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

The Red Cross is helping the man and woman with emergency lodging and food while they wait for an assessment from their insurance company, today.
