Councillor Wants CBRM To Take Over Roads Maintenance In His District

A Regional Councillor says he’d like to see the municipality take over the maintenance of roads in his district.

Steve Gillespie represents an area that covers Sydney River, Coxheath and Westmount.

He adds all the roads in District 4 are now maintained by the province but goes on to say there’s not enough money in the provincial Transportation budget to carry out that work.

Gillespie says he’s offered up District 4 for a pilot project run by the municipality and the province.

He also says he’s spoken to his local MLA’s as well as to municipal officials about the idea.

You can hear the entire interview with Councillor Gillespie on Sunday at noon on Dialogue here on the Coast 89.7.
