Councillor, Police, Fire Chiefs To Attend News Conference On Speeding

A Regional Councillor is holding a news conference in Big Pond tomorrow to address speeding in an area of his district.

District 7 Councillor Steve Parsons says speeding is a longstanding problem along Route 4 and he’s been getting complaints from people who live along the route.

He notes a recent case where a person was charged after police say he was driving over 185 km/h in an 80 zone in Irish Cove and later went off the road near Big Pond.

Parsons says he’ll be joined at tomorrow’s event by representatives of Regional Police, the RCMP and fire chiefs from three departments along Route 4.

The meeting is taking place at the Big Pond Fire Hall at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon.
