Council Resuming Budget Talks, Today

Regional Council is resuming budget deliberations, this afternoon.

Before that meeting, Council is meeting behind closed doors at 10:00 this morning to discuss personnel matters.

Then at 1:00 this afternoon, budget talks continue.

Talks were suspended earlier this spring with Councillors still looking for ways to make up for a 4.2 million dollar shortfall in the operating budget.

The deficit can be brought down to 2.4 million with measures such as the introduction of tipping fees for all vehicles at the landfill, and an increase in transit area rates.
