Council Approves Agreement With Outside Workers

Regional Council has approved a new contract with the municipality’s outside workers.

The four-year deal gives members of CUPE Local 759 a 3% raise in the first year, with 2% in each of the following years and a .5% wage increase on the last day of the agreement.

The deal was approved at a special meeting of council this afternoon.

The approval comes after a series of talks between the two sides that saw the union’s membership reject an earlier tentative agreement.
