Corrections Centre Worker Arrested On Drug Charges

The provincial Justice Department says a staff member at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre has been arrested on drug charges.

Regional Police say the 46 year-old Sydney Mines woman was arrested at the facility at about 6 o’clock yesterday morning following a joint investigation with correctional officials.

The woman is charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana and hashish.

She’s since been released from custody and is due in Sydney Provincial Court at a later date.

Police say their investigation continues, and the Justice Department says the woman will not be allowed at her workplace until the matter is resolved.
