The Liberal government’s controversial Bill 148 was given Royal Assent by Lieutenant Governor J.J. Grant, this morning and is now law.
The Public Services Sustainability Act allows the government to impose a two-year wage freeze on 75-thousand provincial workers, followed by a three per cent raise over the next two years.
It also places restrictions on arbitrated settlements.
Meanwhile, the Opposition and unions are critical of Bill 148, saying that it effectively kills the collective bargaining process.
