The Regional Municipality is hoping to get some help from Ottawa after contaminants, including asbestos, were found at the preferred site of a new police station in Glace Bay.
The municipality paid the federal government a dollar for the former Glace Bay Post Office building.
District 10 Councillor Darren Bruckschwaiger says it could cost a lot of money to remove the contaminants in the building and on the ground it sits on.
Mayor Cecil Clarke says an assessment is now being done on the building.
