Consultant’s Report On Donkin Mine Released

A revised stop-work order is in place for the Donkin Mine after a consultant’s report found seasonal changes and humidity have an effect on roof stability at the mine.

Provincial Labour Minister Jill Balser announced the finding today and says Kameron Coal now knows what it has to do to get the mine running again.

An initial phase of work will require an update to the mine’s hazard classification system and the adding of more monitoring measures.

The second phase will require a review of the mine’s ground control plan and the mine will be allowed to operate during the winter if the second phase is underway.

The work has to be done before the mine can operate in the spring and summer.
