Complaint against Cape Breton Regional Police lodged over death of Jeff Harrietha

A Millville woman has filed a complaint against the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, accusing police of treating her brother’s 911 distress call as a hoax when he rolled his ATV in September.

Jeff Harrietha was reported missing on September 8, and his body was found three days later pinned under his four-wheeler in Bras d’Or.

Amy Gerrow says Harrietha called 911 on September 5, six days before his body was found.

She has lodged a complaint with the Office of the Nova Scotia Complaints Commissioner.

Regional police spokesperson Desiree Magnus says the police service is aware of the complaint, and is requesting an outside agency to investigate.
