Clarke To Seek Re-Election

Mayor Cecil Clarke has confirmed that he’ll be seeking another mandate in the coming year. As the CBRM and its private sector partners begin the early stages of a plan to develop a container terminal in Sydney, Clarke says he’ll be presenting a new, four-year plan for the municipality prior to the scheduled election in October. Referring to the plan that he put forward in November 2012, Clarke says that most of his goals have either been completed or are in progress, and final initiatives are expected to be complete by the middle of 2016. However, the Mayor tells the Coast that there’s more important work to be done after he completes his first term. Clarke adds that he looks forward to a productive debate with opponents when the 2016 campaign gets underway. No opponents have come forward so far.
