Charges Laid In We’koqma’q Shooting, Break-In

RCMP say an 18-year-old man is facing a number of charges after a vehicle was hit by gunfire while driving through We’koqma’q First Nation early yesterday morning.

The charges against Colby Paul from Whycocomagh include reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and other weapons charges.

He’s also facing a break and enter charge after RCMP say ammunition was taken following a break-in at a hardware store in Whycocomagh sometime overnight Tuesday into yesterday.

The Mounties say a woman and a child were in the vehicle hit by the gunfire.

They say no one was hurt and they don’t think the vehicle was targeted.
