Charges Laid In Fatal Hit And Run

Police have laid charges against a 27-year-old Victoria County man accused in a hit and run that killed a 10-year-old girl in Big Bras d’Or last month.

Colin Hugh Tweedie from Black Rock Road faces counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Causing Death, Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired, Causing Death, Failure to Stop after an Accident and Obstruction.

Talia Neveah Forrest from North Sydney died after being hit by a vehicle as she and friends rode their bicycles along Black Road Road at around 9:45 on the night of July 11th.

RCMP say the girl was hit by an SUV that then kept going.

They say the vehicle was later found at a home on Black Rock Road.

Tweedie is due in court on September 5th
