Charges Laid After Child Injured In Wagmatcook

A 47-year-old man has been charged after a child was hit with a truck in Wagmatcook earlier this week.

RCMP say they got a call to Pierro Lane in Wagmatcook shortly before 6:30 on Tuesday evening.

They say a girl under 10-years-old was hit while playing on the side of the road when the driver of a truck fell asleep and the vehicle veered across the road.

The girl was sent to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the driver was not hurt and has been charged with Failing to Drive or Operate a Motor Vehicle in a Careful and Prudent Manner under the Motor Vehicle Act.

They say alcohol and speed are not believed to have been factors in the case.
