Chant’s Funeral Home to close permanently, Service Nova Scotia says

Service Nova Scotia says SW Chant’s funeral home in Sydney is closing permanently.
Cemetery and funeral services registrar Rodger Gregg says they were advised in writing of Chant’s decision to surrender its funeral licence on February 11.
However, Chant’s managing director Jill Nemis denies they are closing, and says the staff are still waiting to see if they need to rebuild or renovate to keep the business open.
The Alexandra Street funeral home has been closed since a fire damaged the facility in early February. Investigators determined the fire was an act of arson, and the investigation continues.
