Changes Proposed For Funding Sewer Service

Regional Councillors voted this morning to approve first reading of a new wastewater bylaw.

The new bylaw will remove from tax bills the 19 cents per hundred dollars of assessment for sewer service.

Instead, people connected to the municipal sewer system will pay for the service depending on the amount of water they use.

The municipality will now hold public hearings on the bylaw.

Municipal staff says the change is necessary because of the increasing cost of providing the service.
