CBU Wraps Up Strategic Planning Process

Cape Breton University wrapped up its strategic planning process at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre, yesterday.

The university was shut down for two days while all of its more than 300 staff gathered for what was called a grand meeting.

The effort to draw up a new strategic plan was launched in May and included consultations with faculty, staff and alumni along with stops in communities around the Island.

The process has produced five strategic directions.

They are investing in students, globalizing with a difference, championing the island’s renewal, “indigenizing the L’Nu way,” and empowering faculty and staff.

The draft plan still has to be approved by the University’s Board of Governors when it meets in October.
