CBU Weapons Threat Suspect Due In Court

An Eskasoni man arrested after a weapons threat at Cape Breton University in late October is due in court today.

23-year-old Bertram William Jr. Bernard is facing charges of uttering a threat and mischief.

Police say a threat was made over social media that someone was bringing a gun to the CBU campus.

However, no weapon was found after police searched campus buildings.

Police say they were later able to identify Bernard as a suspect as part of their investigation.

He’s been released from custody to await today’s court appearance.
