CBU To Launch Textbook On Indigenous Business In Canada, Today

A new textbook that may the first of its kind in Canada is being launched today by Cape Breton University Press.

The idea for Indigenous Business in Canada: Principles and Practice was born five years ago during a series of national roundtable discussions with aboriginal university students.

CBU vice-president of Aboriginal Affairs Keith Brown says students taking part in the roundtable felt like they were being overlooked.

He goes on to say no case studies existed to use in the textbook.

However, Cape Breton’s Membertou First Nation and its economic success was used as place to start.

The new textbook includes 52 case studies from across the country.
