CBU Offering Bursaries to Refugees

Cape Breton University is offering 10 bursaries to refugees who’ve settled on the island.

The awards are for the value of tuition for one undergraduate program.

The idea for the bursaries came from the CBU students’ union.

Students’ union vice president Brandon MacDonald says the bursaries will help encourage the new arrivals to stay in Cape Breton.

They’ll be renewable for the duration of a student’s first undergraduate program as long as they keep a passing average.
