CBU Looking For Voluntary Early Retirements

Cape Breton University is looking for faculty and staff to take voluntary early retirement.

It’s sent a letter outlining a couple of incentive packages to employees.

The move comes after CBU announced plans this spring to cut between 5 and 10 percent of faculty and staff due to budget pressures.

The University’s Vice-President of Finance and Operations, Gordon MacInnis won’t say what will happen if they don’t get enough people to take early retirement.

The Faculty Association is advising its members not to take the early retirement offer.
