CBU Business Dean Stepping Down

The Dean of Business at Cape Breton University is stepping down after only a year on the job.

David Rae officially became Dean of the Shannon School of Business last July 1 but now says he plans to return to the United Kingdom in September.

Rae says he’s leaving for personal and professional reasons, adding that he and his partner have family, career and other interests in the U.K.

Rae also became chair of the community group trying to save the rail line in Cape Breton.

He adds he took on the job despite believing they had only about a 20 percent chance of saving the railway.

However, he adds the Scotia Rail Development Society now has about 200 members and has helped improve the chances of success for saving the line.
