CBU Announces Subsidy, Bursary As Pandemic Measures

Cape Breton University says it’s offering a 50% subsidy on accommodations for new incoming international students as part of a plan to help students during the pandemic.

It says the subsidy will also be applied to those who’ve arrived recently, whether their approved quarantine plan includes on or off-campus living.

That’s expected to cost $235,000 and the money will be given out in mid-February.

The university is also creating a COVID-19 bursary for returning students, both international and domestic.

The initial investment is $100,000 and the university says it’ll match a $40,000 contribution from the Students’ Union, bringing the bursary fund to $180,000.
