The Regional Municipality will mark its twentieth year by ringing in 2016 with one of its biggest celebrations in recent memory, tonight.
The free activities on the Sydney Waterfront begin at 6:00 this evening when the town crier will declare the celebrations underway.
One of the biggest attractions will be a 70-foot ferris wheel that’s part of a carnival site that also includes a carousel.
Several stages will feature musical performances by the likes of Colin Grant and Jason Roach, the Tom Fun Orchestra and Jimmy Rankin.
The night will wrap up with a big fireworks display at midnight.
Meanwhile, Regional Police are warning people about street closures for tonight’s celebrations.
Starting at 4:00 this afternoon, parts of the Esplanade, Charlotte and Prince Streets will be closed.
There will be alternate routes for people trying to get to downtown venues and parking will be available on George Street, the overflow lot at Centre 200 and Open Hearth Park.
