CBRM Summit on Ivaney Report

Cape Breton Regional Council is holding a day-long summit on the Ivaney Report at Centre 200 in Sydney, today.

Mayor Cecil Clarke says the One Nova Scotia Summit will focus on the 12 strategic directions laid out for the province’s economy in the report.

The keynote address will be delivered by Membertou senior advisor Dan Christmas who was also a member of the five-person Commission that put the report together.

Regional councillors will lead panels and discussion groups at today’s summit and 20 local leaders in the education, training and business sectors will also be in attendance.

Clarke says the results from the summit will form the basis for a community response to the Ivaney Report that he and Council will present to the Legislature.

Today’s summit gets underway at 9:00 this morning and wraps up at 3:00, this afternoon.
