CBRM Planning Strategy Hearing Tonight

Regional Council is holding a public hearing tonight on the CBRM’s new Municipal Planning Strategy and land use bylaw.

There are a number of written submissions from the public on the planning strategy and land use bylaw.

The comments include support for some items including the elimination of parking requirements, standards for development in identified floodplains and the promotion of affordable housing.

There are also comments against elements in the documents.

The list includes the approach to housing, allowing mobile homes in most residential zones, development along the Sydney-Glace Bay Highway and a lack of architectural standards for the south end neighbourhood of Sydney.

The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 6:00 this evening in Council Chambers at City Hall in Sydney.
