The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 13.1 per cent, last month.
That’s an increase of one percentage point from July.
But it’s 1.5 percentage points lower than August of last year.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was 7.1 percent in August.
The national unemployment rate remained at 5.7 percent as the federal agency says more people entered the labour market.
