CB Unemployment Rate 12.9% In November

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 12.9 percent in November.

That’s up from 12.5 percent in October and 9.6 percent in November of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate went up a tenth of a percentage point last month to 5.8 percent.

The federal agency says that continues an upward trend observed since April.

It says 25,000 jobs were created nationwide last month as population growth continues to outpace employment growth.
