Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 8.8% in October.
That’s down from 9.2 % in September but up slightly from 8.4% in October of last year.
Meanwhile, the national jobless rate was 6.9% in October.
That’s down from 7.1% in September.
Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was 6.4% last month.
The youth unemployment rate fell six-tenths of a percentage point in October to 14.1%.
That’s the first drop in the rate since February.
