CB Posts 11.9% Jobless Rate For October

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate for October was 11.9 percent.

That compares with a jobless rate of 11.5 percent in September and 12.9 percent in October of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate fell by two-tenths of a percentage point in October to 6.7 percent.

The federal agency says the national economy added 31-thousand jobs that month.

The provincial unemployment rate for October was 7.7 percent.
