CB Liberal MP’s Say Sydney Veterans Affairs Office Will Reopen Despite Minister’s Remarks

There appears to be a bit of a battle brewing between Cape Breton’s two Liberal MP’s and new Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr over the re-opening of the Sydney Veterans Affairs Office.

For the second time in as many days, Hehr would not commit to reopening the Sydney office, yesterday.

Hehr says the Liberals made a commitment to go back and look at reopening many of the offices but stops short of saying they’ll all be re-opened.

Meanwhile, Cape Breton-Canso Liberal MP Rodger Cuzner has a different take on the promise his party made to voters during the election campaign.

Cuzner says despite Hehr’s comments, he remains confident there will be a VA office in Sydney.

He adds that Hehr is just getting acquainted with his new job as Veterans Affairs Minister and may have been unaware of the commitment to re-open the nine Veterans Affairs offices.
