CB Info Sessions on Maritime Link

Emera Newfoundland and Labrador is holding public information sessions today and tomorrow to provide details on how them Maritime Link will affect Cape Breton.

The $1.5 billion dollar link will bring hydroelectricity from Newfoundland and Labrador to Point Aconi through a subsea cable.

The project also includes infrastructure on the Island.

Emera’s Director of Environmental Relations Ken Meade says there’ll be a converter station at Woodbine off the Marion Bridge Highway and a grounding line to Big Lorraine, near Louisbourg.

Meade says both the transmission and grounding lines will travel overland on power poles.

Today’s public information session runs from 3:00 this afternoon until 7:00 tonight at the Marion Bridge Fire Hall .

A second session will take place at the same times tomorrow at the Louisbourg Fire Hall.
