An official opening for Cape Breton’s first hospice is took place this morning.
The construction of the ten-bed, $5.4 million facility was led by Hospice Cape Breton.
The new facility on Charles Hearny Street in Membertou has ten palliative-care beds.
Work on the facility began late in the summer of last year.
The Hospice sits on land donated by Membertou Development Limited and the annual operating costs of $1.7 million are being covered by the province.
