The Cape Breton Highlanders will not be playing in the National Basketball League of Canada, this season.
The team made the announcement, this morning.
It says the decision was made after careful consideration.
The move comes after the team failed to reach its goal to sell 15-hundred season tickets last week.
The team has been granted a one year leave of absence from the League.
It says the ownership group will take the winter to re-group, examine other alternatives and re-assess the situation after the season wraps up, next spring.
