People getting CAR-T cell therapy have their immune T-cells collected and genetically modified to be able to fight their cancer.
In the past, people in the province who were recommended for the therapy had to travel outside the country to get it.
Charles Jesso was the first person to get CAR-T cell therapy in Nova Scotia.
The therapy is currently approved for some types of blood cancers once traditional chemo or immunotherapy stop working.
