Cape Breton’s Unemployment Rate Was 11.8% In August

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate for August was 11.8 percent.

That compares with a jobless rate of 12.6 percent in July and 15.8 percent in August of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment fell four percentage points in August to 7.1 percent.

The federal agency says the national economy added 90,000 jobs in August.
