Cape Breton’s Unemployment Rate For May Was 15.5 Percent

Stats Canada is reporting Cape Breton’s unemployment rate in May was 15.5 percent.

That’s an increase 1.1 percentage points compared to April.

However, its 2.7 points lower compared to May of last year.

Meanwhile, the national jobless rate for May was 8.2 percent.

That’s up a tenth of percentage point from April with the country losing 68,000 jobs in May.
